3 Spread Short Story Book
2019
For this project, I created a series of digital illustrations for a three-spread storybook featuring dialogue between characters in each scene. I used a tablet to sketch and refine the illustrations, and the final product showcases my skills in digital illustration and storytelling. This project allowed me to explore the process of creating a short narrative through visual means.
For this project, I took inspiration from the classic Mother Goose poem "The three little kittens, they lost their mittens" and created a modified version featuring three little bunnies who have lost their jars of honey. I illustrated three scenes with accompanying dialogue, using a cut log-shaped border to enclose each insert. The story follows the bunnies as they search for their lost honey around the house, with their mother scolding them and denying them toast if they don't find it. In the end, when the bunnies do find their honey and bring it to their mother, she offers them toast as a reward. To add an interactive element to the design, I included hidden honey jars on the first page for readers to find. Overall, this project allowed me to showcase my illustration and storytelling skills, as well as my ability to adapt and customize a well-known tale.
